Where’s Waldo? Movie-Style

I just heard about a fascinating website. It’s called “Famous Locations,” and based on production notes, it maps out locations for thousands of movies.

You can see the locations pinpointed on a map and then see pictures from the film at those locations. For example, go here  to see the location map for The Passion of the Christ.

Besides the locations, you might find story synopses, cast listings, and different bits of information about the film. Contributions are welcome, and you can become part of the online community there. It’s an interesting use of the GoogleMaps feature, and a peek into the world of filmmaking.

I found Mercy StreetsSaving Sarah Cain, and a page for director Dave Christiano (Me & You, Us, Forever, 7th Street Theater, Pamela’s Prayer). If you’re a movie buff and like to identify film locations, you’ll enjoy this site.

If you’re a filmmaker, you might want to check out listing yourself and your movies there. You never know who’s looking.
