“Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye” Returns to Television

A few years ago when PAX television was picking up original television series, it had a show called “Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye.” It was an original twist on the many crime procedural shows that now dominate nighttime television. Animal Planet has picked up the series and will show the pilot episodes tonight (April 6). The main reason it was picked up by Animal Planet is that Sue has a guide dog named Levi.

Sue Thomas (the real one) was a deaf FBI agent with very strong faith whose unique abilities in lip-reading earned her a spot on an elite surveillance team. When producers auditioned actresses for the part, Deanne Bray, who has been deaf since birth, won out over many hearing and deaf actresses. Bray became the first deaf actress to star in a network television show. Not only that, but the deaf community celebrated a series that explored their unique challenges in a hearing world.

The show, which received both a MovieguideĀ® awards or promoting positive American values and a Grace Award for Bray in 2006, promotes great family values, and even sneaks in the occasional reference to faith. If the show pulls in good enough ratings on the Animal Planet, they may option some more episodes.

The shows don’t have the intensity of the more famous CSI series or Law & Order, but does have the humor of NCIS and mysteries/adventures that are on par with older police series. I’m going to set my DVR when I get home, and plan to catch all the episodes.

Go glad to hear! Sue Thomas F.B.Eye was one of my favorite shows. The producers, David and Greg Johnson are savvy Christian guys. Too bad some cable network didn’t pick up the show with new episodes. I too will DVR the original series. It’s worth watching a second time.

    Dear Sirs:
Where can I purchase the complete set of Sue Thomas F.B.EYE. I live in Canada and found one site that sold the set to almost every country BUT Canada. I do not understand why this DVD series is not published and available. It is far superior than many others that are so easy to get!

I’ve not been able to find a site that sells the DVDs of Sue Thomas FB Eye. It looks like no one has picked up distribution. I’ve looked at the biggest distribution site I know & it’s not available there. If anyone finds it, leave the link here.
