Rumors Abounding

The rumor mill is working overtime this week. Promenade Pictures’ exec Cindy Bond (producer, “The Ten Commandments”) received an email inquiry from a church asking “We heard that the mention of God being God was not allowed to be in the movie is this true?” Cindy thinks it’s a devastating rumor that hurt last week’s box office.

Wonder who they heard that from? Obviously, it wasn’t someone who saw the movie, because God’s clear statement about His identity, “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,” was uttered to Moses on at least two occasions. Sometimes we’re like a bunch of sheep who hear a rumor about something, especially if we think it endangers our religious freedoms, and go crazy with it. That’s bad in so many ways, but probably the worst way is thinking that human effort can restrict our religious freedom, because that comes from God alone.

Referring back to our previous lessons on publicity, any press (or thing that gets people talking about your work) is good press. I think the rumor is a result of all the talk about Disney Radio’s removal of the phrase “…chosen by God” from its ad for “The Ten Commandments.” Somebody got things a little mixed up.

If you want to know what the movie says, or to see if it’s a good portrayal of Moses and Pharoah and God, go see it for yourself. Then you can answer questions like this one with the best response: the truth!

Yes indeed! All the positive signs that prove God is real and the creator of this world can be dashed to pieces by a small negative rumor. Where is our faith in a positive and loving God?
Answer-My faith is in my understanding of God and personal experience in my own life.Knowledge increases understanding and understanding increases faith. We have to use it or lose it!
