Rebellion or Revolution?
George Barna’s recent book “Revolution,” about the state of the church in our Post-modern world, caused waves with its statistics and predictions about how the church is failing to engage our modern culture in a relevant way. That’s been a topic of other documentaries (Church Outside the Walls), and many long-time members of congregations all around the world are questioning their involvement in the organized church.
Each of us has to work through our faith and how we live it out.
Enter Rebellion of Thought, by the brothers Williamson. As men of faith, they explore the struggles many are having with their faith and practice. Does the church of today reflect the teachings of Jesus? The question posed is not “What would Jesus do?” but more like “What might Jesus think?”
Mike Furches of Hollywood Jesus gives an excellent review of this film, and in my opinion, gives it high marks when he states that, “It causes us to think and struggle with the concept of where those involved in church are to go now.”
I have several friends who are fully devoted followers of Christ who have experienced these same struggles. They’re not people who are unhappy because of the carpet color, or the music, or the selection of chairs over pews. They are deeply thoughtful people who have wrestled long and hard with the questions and challenges posed in Rebellion of Thought.
All of us who have been part of a body of believers have at some point been disappointed or disillusioned with the church. After all, it’s composed of humans, and we are not infallible beings. Each of us has to work through our faith and how we live it out.
Whether you’re supremely happy with “church,” or have been out of the church a long time, or are just wondering what the fuss is about, this film will help you evaluate your faith and life. And that is never a bad thing.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will take a look at it.
