Internal Persecution
It’s not news that the world is against the cause of Christianity. In fact, there’s at least a couple thousands years’ evidence to support this. What is news (at least to me) is that it’s become so public and strong within the United States, especially for any Christians or Christian organizations that try to have any influence on politics.
Most recently, a blogpost written by Steven Leser rails against Chick-fil-a (a fast-food restaurant in the South and East) for giving out materials from Focus on the Family (like Adventures in Odyssey) with its meals. He’s calling all Democrat/Liberal/Progressives to boycott Chick-fil-a until they stop handing out Focus materials. He says he doesn’t care that they are a religious group, but is angry because they promote the Conservative (or Christian) Right. Ironically, the original blogpost on his site had 8 Google Ads on it - 7 of which were from Chick-fil-a.
He mentions McDonald’s Happy Meals toys, which usually come from Hollywood films, and doesn’t find that at all objectionable. I guess it’s because Hollywood represents the Democrat/Liberal/Progressives that he’s calling to action. If we follow his line of logic, then Republican/Conservative/Christians should boycott McDonald’s because it gives away movie-related toys, thus promoting the many actors and entertainers who do their best to influence the media and impose their views on the rest of the country.
Focus on the Family has wielded influence on behalf of family issues. What’s wrong with that? Why shouldn’t an organization centered around the family attempt to bring some influence to protect the family and strong moral values? Does our country suffer when strong families are in place? Studies show the increase of teen pregnancy, illiteracy and crime, among other things, are related to the disintegration of the nuclear family. Focus on the Family is attempting to reverse that trend. Shame on them! And Chick-fil-a, a company owned and operated by Christians, is supporting the work of Focus to strengthen our families. Double shame on them!
Chick-fil-a’s customers are under no obligation to keep the materials handed to them, neither is the person who receives a Happy Meals toy at McDonald’s.

I used to feel the way Steven Leser, because before I heard the true gospel of Jesus Christ my sin was so heavy that satan was the one that would put bad thoughts in my head about godly people. And now that I got right with God through Jesus I don’t feel that way anymore, so what I will do is pray for these people that are so angry at God.
