Evan Almighty - Building an Ark Almighty

There’s something great coming out of Hollywood! Jonathan Bock, founder and president of Grace Hill Media, joined forces to create ArkALMIGHTY.com. It’s a simple concept, really. Post a need if you have one, fulfill a need if you’re able to. It reminds me of the film “Pay it Forward,” where a young boy starts a quiet revolution in his school and hometown by doing acts of kindness for others and then asking them to do the same.

We want to see our faith is relevant to the messed-up world in which we live.

Stories on the website include small groups from a church subsidizing gas prices for people in their town. And while customers were waiting in line, they got free water and their windows washed. Another group set up a free carnival in the poor section of their town. It’s creating a network of good.

In an article for One News Now, Dr. Marc Newman makes a great point that in today’s culture, we want to see our faith is relevant to the messed-up world in which we live. While ArkALMIGHTY is a great concept, I hope it spreads beyond the boundaries of the churches. The website focuses on church members meeting the needs within their congregations. That’s a great place to start, but there are people with needs that may never be part of our churches.

Let’s open the doors of the Ark and go outside. Hollywood, with the help of Jonathan Bock, is reaching out, and we need to join them!
