Connecting Christian Filmmakers at ICVM

It’s Saturday morning. The last trophy has been handed out (thanks, Rachel!), the A/V equipment put away, and the conference signs are gone.  But the conversations continue.

New friends and “old” colleagues linger in the hotel lobby or at the breakfast table sharing stories and learning more about each others’ lives. Layne and I call it the “ICVM Afterglow.”

You know how it is. You go to an event or church service that’s so great you don’t want to leave. The people you’re with inspire and challenge you, and give you some new creative ideas and you want more. If you had been with Jesus on the mountaintop, you’d have been right there with Peter, asking to build temples to Moses and Elijah and Jesus. You’re reluctant to leave the glory.

It’s a little scary to leave a conference like this because somehow between the conference and home, the “cares of this world” begin to creep in and push out your new ideas and creative thoughts. Things left undone beckon. The house and your family are calling your name – they’ve missed you.The minute you step back into your office, your phone will start ringing and people will come to visit.

Stop and savor the moment. There’s time for both the old and the new; the creative and the commonplace. If your heart and mind have really been stirred, as mine have, make it a priority to nurture that excitement. Stay in touch with your friends and comrades – ask them how they’re doing and what they’re working on.

Jesus and the disciples didn’t stay on the mountain. They came back down and almost immediately people were asking Jesus to heal their family and friends, asking for blessings. They never lost sight of what they experienced, but took it with them into their everyday lives.

So what are you going to do with your new creative ideas? How are you going to stay connected with your new friends? And how are you going to help them achieve your dreams as you achieve yours?

I am a young film maker and I found a new site the other day called http://www.talentandproducton.com, I am finding it really handy & the main thing is it is free (always a bonus!) Its has some pretty cool features for a free site like a video editing suite & photoshop -like function. Also has some good jobs on there, which I have already applied for! Just thought i would spread the word a bit http://www.talentandproducton.com
