Christian Film Conferences
In the next few weeks a couple of conferences are scheduled that are key to new developments in Christian film. Both are happening in Denver, Colorado, so get your tickets now and plan to go to the Mile-High City in July for the ICVM Catalyst Conference and ICRS 2009.
ICVM is International Christian Visual Media – a meeting of the creative minds of Christian filmmakers. This conference is home to the Crown Awards, which is peer-to-peer recognition of excellence in filmmaking, scriptwriting, and other categories. It’s a great opportunity to discuss the challenges you’re facing with others who have the same challenge, to network with other filmmakers, and in general have a lot of fun, stay up late, and make new friends. Don’t miss this networking opportunity! I’ll be Twittering, Facebooking, and blogging from there so if you can’t attend, I’ll feed you as much info as possible.
ICRS is International Christian Retail Show – a conference for Christian retailers to connect with Christian distributors, filmmakers, and vendors of all sorts of products. Want to meet the people who are selling your films to their local customers? Then come to the show. There are lots of opportunities to meet authors, hear artists, and see new films that will be coming out soon. At least three films are being screened that I know of: VeggieTales: Saint Nicholas, A Story of Joyful Giving, The Samaritan (a true story of freedom, human rights and sacrifice), and Like Dandelion Dust, the first film based on a novel by best-selling author Karen Kingsbury.
These are two of the top 5 annually-occurring conferences involving Christian film, so if you can get to Denver, I’ll see you there!

I really would like to go to these. I live in Denver. But just can’t afford it right now. I’ve spent all my money making films and don’t have a job. Is there any way I could still go?

Hi Jeffrey – you’d need to contact the conference organizers. Click on the links in the original post to go to their main pages. The ICRS show is headquartered in Colorado Springs – maybe they need some volunteers to help with something? I don’t know. Check out the ICVM – you might be able to come & just hang out with some of the other filmmakers in the lobby. But – again – I’d check with their organizers.
