Can a “Genius Club” Solve the World’s Problems?

That’s the question at the heart of filmmaker Tim Chey’s next movie (director of Gone), due out in general release this December. A terrorist holding Washington, D.C. hostage with a bomb threat brings together a group of people possessing the highest IQ’s in the country. They are a motley crew and include a scientist, a seminary student, a pro baseball player, a professor, a casino owner, a painter, the President of the United States, and a pizza delivery guy (Stephen Baldwin, star of Six, Midnight Clear, Livin It, and Livin It LA).

They are given one night to solve the issues chosen by the madman as the most critical to the world: world hunger, war, cancer, terrorism, rush hour, traffic, jerks, and the meaning of life. That’s a huge challenge at any time, let alone when the fate of thousands of people is hinging on the answers, and whether or not they satisfy the person who invented the game in the first place.

The film opened last fall in limited release, and will soon be available on DVD.

I was really looking forward to this film, but I wasn’t a big fan of Gone at all…so I am a little worried.

  2. Bobby Downes says:

Tom Sizemore and Stephen Baldwin are enjoyable to watch in this mind-bender.

  3. Angela Walker says:

The questions are an interesting mix of the profound and the mundane. Could be allegorical to our lives. Daily - what do I make for dinner? What shall I wear today? Why did that driver cut me off?

Vs. Where am I spending eternity? Why doesn’t God speak verbally to me?

  4. John-Clay Burnett says:

so this is a Christian film?

  5. Angela Walker says:

There are people in the film who are Christians, and it has a Christian worldview.
