Borders Under Attack

Not our country’s Borders, but the beloved bookstore. They’re being slammed for a marketing ploy to sell copies of Richard Dawkins’ book The God Delusion.

Their ploy? Giving away a free Christmas card that says “O Come, all ye faithless.”

The irony is beautiful. Giving away a CHRISTMAS card with a book about the lack of God, and therefore the lack of Christ? And for the card to be addressed to the “faithless?” If there is no God, then there can be no “faithlessness” to that absent God.

To me, their use of the card and the word “faithless” is a charming irony. But you know what will happen. Christians will get upset and verbally go on the defensive (has already happened in Great Britain). This in turn will draw more attention to the card and therefore the book. Book sales will increase, and someone will realize that yet again, attacking Christians is good for business. It’s because we just can’t resist a good fight.

One Response to “Borders Under Attack”

  1. Leslie I T Assih says:

And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying,”It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” The reason why we Christians attack or are susceptible to such things is because we do not know or forget who we are. The last thing Jesus heard before going into the wilderness was stated clearly in Matthew 3:17 before going into the wilderness/desert. What is the last thing we have heard and received from God our Father before doing such things, before going on the attack/reacting to situations rather than respond to them from the truth.
