36 Parables Interview

Filmmakers John Schimke and Stewart Redwine, creators of the 36 Parables series, were recently interviewed on “The Harvest Show.” Check out the video from their blog and hear straight from the filmmakers.

“36 Parables” is a modern adaptation of Jesus’ parables. Each DVD has 3 short films on it, which correspond to one of Jesus’ teachings. Not intended to be a strict reenactment of the Scripture, the stories are re-interpretations. On the Purple disc, the shrewd manager from Luke 16 is a used car salesman. The story of the Prodigal Son is retold using a blind date metaphor on Cyan. And Stewart Redwine, cinematographer for the series, identifies “Buried Talent”, from Yellow, as his personal favorite.

In preparation for their 4th and 5th DVDs “Amber and Blue,” the crew starts principal photography in Lodi, CA, on August 2nd. Lodi is just outside of Sacramento, so if you’re driving around that area and come across a blocked-off street, it might be the 36 Parable guys.
